With a collection of textiles and costumes, icons, ceramics, and other artifacts of Romanian peasant life, the Romanian Peasant Museum is one of Europe’s leading museums of popular arts and traditions.
The venue hosts various workshops, conferences, fairs and exhibitions all year long. All of these events have as main theme Romanian traditions and their purpose is to maintain cultural memory alive.
The outdoor areas of the museum are represented by a sequence of spaces which slowly turn from public space into private space.
These areas of the museum can become sites for various types of projects:
In the inner courtyard, next to the small wooden church, there is a possibility for a small design intervention. The green area in front of the museum is also a suitable workshop site.
Regardles of your chosen location for your project, you should take into consideration the relationship between tradition, handcrafts & contrasting concepts.
